Best Storybook Creators for Kids

Best Storybook Creators for Kids 1

I would like to present to you a list of online storybook creators which are perfect for creative writing and story book creating. I have used many of them with students in the classroom, as well as with my own children. They are quite popular with students in primary / elementary school (K-6). These storybook creators are excellent and are available online via the web so you can use them with your students on individual PCs or via an interactive whiteboard for a shared writing activity. Many fun-filled hours have been spent online with these websites because they are educational, fun and exciting (and that was just by me! Children love them as well). Importantly, the list caters for a range of levels of ability and development.

This application scaffolds the writing process quite well, it plays back the story that has been created up to a point (with text highlighting), and provides verbal prompting to support students.

  1. Thank you so much for these resources, Kylie! My kids LOVE making books!

  2. Are there any others that allow the kids to draw and also record their voice? I have used Little Bird Tales, which does this, but they made drastic changes to their site and lost most of my kids’ projects.
